Hello everyone! So, I think it’s about time I share with y’all a bit more about me, Andreina, the real person behind this blog and each and everyone of these posts.

Sometimes we get so caught up in the day to day way of living, that we forget to stop - see how far we’ve come, acknowledge where we stand - before we keep going. This post is exactly that, a moment to stop and share a bit of how I got to this point in my life, not only for y’all to get to know me better, but also for me to realize how far I’ve come! So, let’s get to it!

I was born in Venezuela and lived there until I was 13 years old. Then, my whole family relocated to Atlanta, GA and that’s where I attended high school and college. I went to KSU and majored in Modern Languages and Culture (I’m fluent in Spanish, French, Italian, and a bit of Portuguese - although I’ll admit I’m a tad rusty on all languages (except Spanish) since I haven't really spoken them after graduating in Dec 2014!) Studying languages in school allowed me to complete three different study abroads (in Canada, France, and Italy) and sparked my great passion for traveling and immersing myself in different cultures.

Right after graduation, I moved to the West Coast with my boyfriend Guillermo and our dog Papi and we have now been living in Venice Beach for almost three years (+ have a new family member, our dog Machito) and love it!

After exploring different career options and paths in L.A., I finally realized that I constantly crave the adventure of exploring new places . So after much thinking and consideration, I decided to go for it and open up this blog, Collecting Moments, to share my love for traveling.

However, while all of this travel blog planning was going on, I was simultaneously having major changes in my lifestyle that have led me to where I am today (guys, some things happen when you least expect it - it’s crazy!) One of these major changes? I discovered Kayla Itsine’s BBG programs.

While I was designing my web page, writing posts, and organizing some trips for after launching the blog - I started doing BBG. Completing this program shifted the way I looked at working out completely! (You can read more about my experience after my first round of BBG here) But, basically besides having a major physical transformation, it set me on the path to a life in fitness and wellness without even realizing it.

You see, the main reason I liked BBG was because you could do it at home, without any equipment, and it was only 28mins long. At first, I wouldn’t even complete LISS days (35mins-40mins of cardio twice a week) because exercising was more of a chore. But soon after I started, I enjoyed the way I felt after working out so much (hello endorphins and results! lol) that I slowly started adding simple new additions to my routines; first LISS, then an optional HIIT workout/week, and finally doing BBG at the gym. #gamechanger

I started doing BBG at the gym because I wanted to be able to use the equipment and up my weights, and quickly fell in love with being surrounded by all the people in the gym also working out, doing their thing, and pushing to be fitter and healthier. All of this sparked a desire for me to be more involved in a real life fitness community.

I completed three full rounds of BBG (and I still believe it’s one of the best programs out there because of its convenience, simplicity, community, and results) and I started changing the way I looked at exercising and eating. Before BBG, I’d always regarded working out as something that just needed to be done for my health and appearance + I had never found a program/routine that felt more like a lifestyle. BBG obviously became that new healthy lifestyle for me, but also encouraged me to move past my fear of trying new things and going deeper into fitness.

While ALL of this was going on, I kept publishing on the blog and my IG, traveling and growing the CM squad we are today. However, since the blog is a reflection of my likes and my lifestyle, I started shifting my focus and posting more about BBG and working out. By doing so, I also started being in contact with more BBG babes in L.A.

I started attending fitness events hosted by fellow BBG and fitness enthusiasts and got hooked on trying different workouts. By trying all these workouts, I started wanting to dig deeper into why we were doing certain exercises and how to create similar routines (Something to know about me, I’m a complete nerd, absolutely LOVE studying and always want to know the why behind everything). Hence, I decided to enroll to become certified as a Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine; I’m expecting to complete my program this December. #majoraccomplishment

An immense part of my journey into fitness and wellness needs to be accredited to living in Los Angeles, which is such an influential city for fitness and wellness enthusiasts. While I have been on this wonderful fitness journey + becoming part of the amazing L.A. Fit community, I’ve also been changing and growing interested in my overall wellness, happiness,and balance through my eating habits and nutrition.

Los Angeles has been incredible when it comes to having delicious and alternative healthy options for eating out, shopping, and a community of people interested in nourishing their body the best way possible. By following various wellness bloggers and meeting my friend Laurianne @getfitfrenchie, I discovered a passion for wanting to understand what entails maintaining a healthy way of living by educating myself in what I choose to put into my body and mind, which led me to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

As of now, I’m enrolled and in my 2nd month of a 12month program to become a Holistic Health Coach through IIN, and I can’t wait to keep learning and improving my life.

Through Collecting Moments, I will share and take y’all on my fitness and wellness journey, discuss ALL the tips, reviews, and advice on how to lead a happy and healthy active lifestyle as I continually learn more about these subjects as a Fitness and Holistic Health coach AND I’ll combine all of these likes with my passion for traveling in hopes of stimulating others to venture out, explore, and hopefully form a community where we can ALL collect moments and inspire one another!

This blog is about the journey, the ups and downs, and finding the necessary balance to still enjoy ourselves and live the little things.
